News from the Open Access World

OASPA Conference

The Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association, or OASPA, held its 8th annual Conference on Open Access Scholarly Publishing (COASP) in September. COASP 2016, which Karger co-sponsored, covered a host of topics helping shape the development of Open Access – from peer review to open data to ‘atomized content’ and much more. Recordings, slides and posters can be viewed here.

Karger's membership in OASPA means Karger fulfills the strict criteria that ensure publishers meet various standards for Open Access publishing. OASPA promotes information exchange, education, and innovation; sets standards; supports the development of business and publishing models that support Open Access; and advocates for Gold Open Access.

Funding Information on the Open Access Gateway

Karger has expanded the funding information on the Open Access Gateway, adding links to policies of funders in China, India, and Japan. This section of the Open Access Gateway is designed to help authors quickly access the requirements of their funding organizations. It is just one of Karger's efforts to ensure that authors can easily meet all Open Access-related obligations. Please write to openaccess@karger.com with all questions or to inquire about funders that might not be shown in the list to date.

News from Biomedicine Hub: BioMedMix

The multidisciplinary Open Access journal Biomedicine Hub has been enhanced by a new section. The BioMedMix provides news and comments on biomedical topics. Stay informed with this growing treasure chest of easy-to-read short texts summarizing original articles, interviews, and other publications about popular biomedical subjects.

Biomedicine Hub aims to exchange knowledge between the various disciplines, and thus to support the development of cutting-edge technologies and the improvement of health care. There is currently no Article Processing Charge (APC), so it is free to submit and publish in this journal!
